Tanjung Tinggi Beach and Its Specialties
Belitung Island is the home of beautiful beaches and stunning Island. In Sijuk District, you can find Tanjung Tinggi Beach. It is located in the north part of Belitung Island. If you come from Tanjung Pandan, you need to do a trip about 36 km. The beach is located situated between Tanjung Pendam and Tanjung Kelayang. Thus, it becomes the center of tourist attractions. Like other beaches in Belitung, it has beautiful white sand and big granites. In the past, it was a local port. Many fishermen parked their boats here. The most common one is Atherinomorph sp. These tiny fishes have a famous formation. It is called schooling. For those who love nature, the fish becomes an interesting attraction.
Some visitors come here for a research. They are attracted to the granites. The thing is no one knows the history of those rocks. According to science, these are part of the batholith. Though, the locals believe these granites were formed by magma. It is said these rocks had been there since hundreds of years ago. The oldest one is located in the northwest part of the beach. It has the color of gray. When it comes to the stone surface, it is quite rough.
Snorkeling is also popular. The seawater is suitable for both beginners and professionals. Apart from fishes, you may expect different types of coral reefs. As a precaution, you must avoid jellyfishes. They can be quite harmful sometimes. If you aren’t sure with your skills, you should hire an instructor. The locals often offer a tour guide to visitors, so you can take advantage of their service. Also, you should have carried snorkeling equipment. It is because the rent fee is quite expensive, especially during weekends.

How to Get There
The location is in Sijuk District. It is recommended to use a private car. A tour agency is also preferred. It is because public transportation isn’t quite reliable. From Pangkal Pinang, you can directly head to Sijuk. Tanjung Tinggi Beach is located in the north part of Sijuk. It is near to Tanjung Kelayang Beach.
